In order to increase awareness of online education and promote interactive activites among percussionist during this pandemic, Drummer Alliance will organize a five-month online drumming competition from August 1, 2021 to December 18, 2021, with the theme of "Drumming On The Cloud".

​

This competition will provide a great opportunity for all percussionists in Malaysia to meet and share their skills virtually with each other.

Drummer Alliance was founded in 2020, a percussion association formed by multiple percussion groups and percussionist. Our main mission is to promote local performing art and education of percussion in Malaysia. Besides, we hope to increase the awareness and recognition of percussion music across the nation. The percussion music mentioned here includes; 24 festive drums, Malay drums, Indian drums, Handpan and other percussion instruments.

 

Our aim is to build a consulting and interactive platform for percussion performing art. At the same time, students are able to have more exposure to the professional courses and education of percussion by organizing different activities. It is also a platform for all Malaysian percussionist to have a more comprehensive understanding of the percussion techniques and exchange traditional culture among different races in Malaysia.

 

Finally, we hope that through this Drummer Alliance platform, we are able to improve performance of various percussion groups.

This online competition which organize by Drummer Alliance is one of the rare event in Malaysia. I am looking forward for the production of each contestants on their professional skills and creativity in percussion music.

In the early days, competition is mostly competed among groups. Hence it is rare to have the opportunity to see the professional skill of percussionist individually. It is a great opportunity to promote each percussionist's professional skill and see how they can shine on stage.  At the same time, it is also a platform to promote the culture of local percussion music, allowing more young percussionists to show their skills and exchange ideas with each other.

I am excited to see the improvement on maturity of local percussionist' technique which is on their way reaching to an international level. This will also show the uniqueness of each Malaysian percussionist who grew up in a multicultural country .
